What are Ted Talks?
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
You may have seen the ads for TED Talks. They feature famous and successful people, like Bill Gates and Dan Pink, who stand on a stage with a microphone and share their insights from years of experience. But you may not know that there are also TED Talks for entrepreneurs, where many of the same speakers talk about topics like innovation, management, and being an entrepreneur.
If you haven’t seen any TED Talks before, they’re pretty neat. You’ll see a speaker with a microphone on stage, but behind them is an image of what they’re talking about or perhaps an animation that illustrates their point. It’s a really dynamic way to learn about a topic, and it can be entertaining as well.

With more than one billion views, TED Talks have gone viral, spreading ideas and solutions across a global network. Entrepreneurs can benefit from watching these videos because they provide insight into how others think, act and succeed.

1. How Great Leaders Inspire Action – Simon Sinek
Simon Sinek calls himself a “futurist” because he focuses on the future, but he is really a great communicator. His message is straightforward: successful people and businesses have a clear message. They know exactly what they’re doing and why they’re doing it. The rest of us? Not so much. Communicating this vision is the first step toward getting others to believe in it.

Seth Godin knows marketing and he knows the Internet, so he speaks with authority about how to get your ideas out there. He points out that ideas don’t spread like viruses, where you can just sit back and watch them grow; they need help from someone else. He also points out that in an age where we are flooded with information, great ideas need to stand out from the crowd in order for
