This is a blog about the future. Not a distant future, but a plausible, compelling vision of what’s coming just around the corner – the near-future of travel and transportation. We live in an exciting time for aviation, when most of what we are going to see in the next 20 years is already on the drawing board or in development. The biggest changes may not be in flying itself, but in how we get from home to gate, and from gate to final destination. In this blog, I will write about what’s coming, speculate on implications and potential impacts on passengers and airlines alike, and occasionally rant about things that I find either cool or annoying (or both). But mostly I hope to share my enthusiasm for all that’s happening in our industry.

Airlines have struggled to find ways to improve the passenger experience at airports. One way that airlines have tried to do this is by automating the check-in process. This was a great idea in theory, but customers found it incredibly frustrating and slow. The problem was that there was never anyone around to help them with their problems. So they were left standing at the machine, frequently frustrated and angry with no one to turn to for help. That is why kiosks are now being phased out in favor of mobile devices like check-in apps. But what if there was a better way? What if we could use technology to make the check-in process faster and more convenient?
The answer is automation! As I discussed in my earlier post on how airlines will use technology to improve the passenger experience, we’ll see more self-service kiosks and mobile devices used for check-ins over time. But one thing that’s been missing from all these discussions about the future of air travel is how it will affect job opportunities for people who work in airports today.
The future of air travel is taking us closer to the ultimate in personal mobility.
We will see new and improved aircraft that can fly faster and carry more passengers. New aircraft will be designed for maximum speed and convenience. There is no question that flying is becoming a safer, more efficient and enjoyable experience.
The future of air travel will be like being in a private jet, with all the amenities of your own home. You will have every amenity you would expect from a private jet, including a large living area, kitchen, bathroom and entertainment area.
New technology is being developed to make the flying experience even more enjoyable and comfortable. In fact, it’s already here! The next generation of aircraft are being designed with the latest technology. The new high-tech airplanes are capable of high speeds, long range and incredible maneuverability.
The future of air travel will also bring us closer to our world’s natural environment. Our planet has been hit hard by global warming and pollution, and there is much we can do to help. Our future technology will allow us to reduce our carbon footprint and help preserve our natural environment for future generations.
With all this progress on the horizon, there is no reason why we shouldn’t look forward to our flying experiences in the future
We’re going to be living in the future soon. Some of these developments are already here, and some are coming in the next decade.
One of the areas where I’m most excited is air travel. There’s just so much happening here: supersonic jets, solar powered planes, new hypersonic aircrafts and more.
I’ll be sharing some of my thoughts on the future of air travel on this blog.
Not just a few years from now, but decades from now. It’s a fascinating concept to ponder. In the last 20 years alone, we’ve gone from CD players and VHS tapes to the iPod and the iPhone. We’ve seen the computer shrink in size and increase in speed a thousand-fold. Heck, even our vacuum cleaners have gotten smarter!
So what will air travel look like 20 years from now? 40 years? More? There are a lot of interesting things going on in aviation today. Let’s take a look at some of the projects and concepts that may be taking us into the future…
