If you are a young graduate, who is looking for a job, or you want to change your job I want to share with you some easy hacks that will help you. Let’s take a look at 4 easy hacks that can help you in your job search.
The first hack is very simple and it can be applied to all professions. It is really useful when it comes to design jobs. You should start making your future portfolio today! So often we wait until we have finished our studies and then we try to construct our portfolio. But the truth is that your portfolio will be much better if you constantly work on it while you are still studying. This means that the time you spent studying, will not be wasted, but instead of creating it later, you can use it now as well. Of course, I do not suggest creating things just for the sake of having them in your portfolio. You should create things because they are interesting for you and because they are useful for others too. However if you have to create something for a project or a class – think about how this thing could be useful in the future and add it to your portfolio!
The second hack is all about networking online. The thing is that Internet
Before I reveal my job search secrets, let me give you some context.
After managing the hiring process for hundreds of software engineers and data scientists at my previous company, I decided to apply what I learned on the other side of the table.
Over a span of 6 months, I went from being unemployed to having offers from multiple companies including Microsoft, Amazon, IBM and startups.
In this blog post, I’ll share 4 easy hacks that helped me get a good job quickly.
Hack 1: Make your LinkedIn profile look awesome
Many big companies use LinkedIn as their primary tool for finding candidates. And according to this study by Jobvite, 94% of recruiters use LinkedIn to find talent. So it is imperative that your profile is up-to-date and looks awesome.
Here are some tips:
1) Have a professional photo and cover picture (no selfies!)
2) List all your projects and achievements in detail under the “Experience” section (not just the title!)
3) Join groups related to your industry in the “Groups” section
4) List all your skills in the “Skills & Endorsements” section (if you have too many skills, you can hide
If you are looking for a job, and one that you really want, then you will have to do things differently. Today, in this fast-paced world, where the competition is mammoth, and jobs are scarce, you will have to work really hard, if you want a job of your choice.
If you are not willing to put in any extra efforts and time, then forget about landing up with a dream job. There’s no shortcut to success! If you are willing to put in the extra effort and follow the unconventional path of job searching, then it is very much possible for you to find your dream job.
How exactly can this be done? Well, there are several ways in which one can go about doing this. Here are 4 easy hacks that might come in handy when you’re looking for a new job:
Use good keywords on your resume
One of the first steps in applying for a job is building an effective resume. An important thing that most candidates tend to miss out on is keywords. Keywords help employers or recruiters search for the right candidate based on their skills or qualifications. For example, if an employer is looking for someone who knows C++ programming language and web development skills like HTML5 and CSS3,
Want to get a good job? You have to do three things:
1. Create something valuable.
2. Make sure people know about it.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you are successful.
These might seem like no-brainers, but they’re not. They are the result of years of study, research and experience. Here’s why:
There is a lot of advice out there on how to get a good job, but most of it falls short. It’s either too general (“find a job you love”) or too specific (“learn to code”). This can be helpful for some people, but not for everyone. If you don’t know what you want to do, it’s hard to find a job that you love. And if you don’t like coding, it’s pretty tough to become a programmer in six months.
The thing is, there are two kinds of jobs out there: easy and hard ones. Easy jobs are the ones where all you have to do is show up and work your ass off every day (e.g., janitors or cashiers at Wal-Mart). They’re easy because they require very little skill or training, and they pay poorly (if at all).
Planning to get a good job? Well, you have landed at the right place.
In this article, we will be discussing some of the tips and tricks that will help you in landing a good job.
Get a good job.
Hack 1: Get your resume right.
It is a good idea to have a professional write your resume for you. But this is something that you can do yourself. Make sure that your resume is not too long, no more than two pages, and the content should be fresh and relevant to the position that you are applying for. A good way to ensure that your resume is relevant is to use keywords from the job listing in your resume.
Include details of all your work experience, including part-time jobs, internships and summer jobs (if any). Make sure you include skills and achievements as well as responsibilities and tasks undertaken in each job. Use bullet points to make it easy for the reader to scan through your resume quickly. Add a personal statement at the end of the resume, describing what kind of person you are and what motivates you.
Hack 2: Be prepared for interviews
Once companies see that you have the skills they are looking for, they will invite you for an interview or ask for further information about your work experience/education etc. Prepare for these interviews as if it is a big test because this is how important it is! You need to prepare answers to commonly asked interview questions such
You’ve heard it a million times before, “if you want a good job, you need to work hard in college.” But what does working hard in college even mean? What classes should you take? What extracurriculars should you do? How will you stand out from your peers? And the hardest question of them all, how do you figure this all out in time to graduate with a job?
If you’re like most students, this is probably the biggest question looming over your head. This question is so big because it’s not just about what we do today that makes us successful. It’s about our whole life. The things we do now will affect us for years down the road and that can be really scary.
So where do we start? How do we fight against the fear and actually get some direction in our lives? The solution I came up with was to create a personal plan or framework for my life and work. A plan can give me direction and allow me to experiment without wasting too much time or money. A plan can also help me make decisions quickly because I know where I want to go and what I want to do.
