Best TVs of 2018

The best TV to buy right now is the LG C8 OLED. It’s the one we’d recommend to anyone and everyone, regardless of their budget or their viewing habits.

It’s the successor to 2017’s outstanding C7 OLED, and while it doesn’t quite improve on that model in every way, it does enough to take the crown as our new top pick for anyone looking to upgrade their TV.

OLEDs are still some of the best TVs you can buy in 2018, with superb contrast and excellent black uniformity. The only thing that holds them back is their relatively high price tag (though prices are coming down) and potential for burn-in.

You don’t have to pay a lot for a 4K TV, but you will have to make some sacrifices. Our favorite budget 4K TV is the TCL S405 series. In fact, this series has replaced Vizio’s E Series as our favorite budget 4K TV, thanks to its improved picture quality and better value proposition than Vizio’s offering.

If you love to watch movies and have the budget, you can’t go wrong with the LG OLED55C8. The C8 offers a great picture quality, an excellent response time and outstanding low input lag. It also has a wide viewing angle, which is great if your friends like to watch movies too.

The backlight of this TV is very uniform, and its handling of reflections is also impressive for a large TV. Unfortunately, it’s not as bright as other TVs in its size class, so it may not be the best option if you like to watch sports or play video games with a lot of ambient light.

Overall though, it’s an excellent TV that will please anyone who loves to watch movies in a dark room.

There are plenty of reasons to buy a television in 2018. You might want to cut the cord, or take your Netflix and Hulu viewing to the next level. You could be upgrading from a 720p HDTV to a 4K TV with HDR, or finally ditching the boxy CRT in your bedroom. Or maybe you want to build out your home theater with a projector and screen combination. Regardless of the reason you’re looking for a new TV, we’re here to help with our list of the best TVs you can buy right now.

The Best TVs by Category

Best Overall: OLED TVs

To the surprise of many, the best TVs of 2018 aren’t always the most expensive. In fact, for the first time this year, all of our top picks are 4K TVs with HDR, and all are from major brand names you can trust, like Samsung, Vizio, LG and TCL. And while it’s still true that more money will get you a better picture and a nicer design, there are some fantastic TVs out there that won’t break the bank.

If you’re looking to upgrade your television, but don’t want to spend too much money on it (which is understandable), then you’ve come to the right place. Our list of best budget TVs is here to help narrow down your choices. We’ve listed five televisions — they range in price from $450 to $700 — that offer excellent image quality and style without too much compromise. You’ll find most of them are smaller models (less than 55 inches), though we have included a few larger models as well.

The TV market has been changing a lot recently, both in terms of technology and price. Manufacturers like LG, Samsung, Sony, and more are all competing to produce the best TV possible, which makes it an exciting time to buy a new television! There are many different types of televisions on the market today.

LED TVs are the most common type, but OLED TVs are becoming more popular. QLED TVs are also available but not as common.

If you want the best possible picture quality no matter what you’re watching or playing, you’ll want one of these displays in your home theater.

We hope this list helps you find the perfect TV for your needs. If there is anything else you would like us to cover in our reviews or roundups, please let us know in the comments below!
